I owned this machine around six months ago for video editing, photography, and gaming. I’ve been facing problems with frame rates in games and I’m confused about why I invested so much. I ran several benchmarks—NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 test results, Intel Core i9-10980XE Extreme Edition, ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. ROG STRIX X299-E (3dmark.com)—but my scores are below average. I’ve turned on XMP for RAM and kept my drivers updated alongside Windows 11. Still, games like Fortnite, Overwatch, and Battlefield keep dropping to around 140fps or less, even when settings suggest higher performance. The same happens with other titles. I suspect there might be something in my BIOS or driver configuration that needs adjustment. Could you help me figure this out? Thank you very much for your time.

Since you're running a 10980XE intended for workstation tasks rather than gaming, it's built for productivity, not high-performance play. This design choice might explain why it doesn't excel in games—along with other factors. You'll likely need to tweak game settings to achieve optimal performance. Avoid enabling the RTX graphics card in most titles, and review specific settings and drivers to resolve any problems.

Typical users who work with high-performance components often push their CPUs and GPUs beyond standard settings, raising overall performance beyond what would happen if everyone used default speeds.
