Yesterday I began using my computer and opened a game. A short while later I realized I couldn't click anything, though the cursor was still moving. After a minute it turned blue and then shut down completely. When I tried to restart it, it booted up but wouldn't start properly. The screen lights up but nothing else appears. There are several LEDs on the motherboard for diagnostics—one for the CPU, one for RAM, one for booting, and another for VGA. The VGA stays on during startup and doesn’t power off, suggesting a hardware issue. I attempted to re-seat the RAM and GPU, but nothing changed. I own an R7 3700X, so there are no built-in graphics options, which means I can't try that fix. I also swapped out the GPU (2060 6GB) for a GT 710 I had, but it didn’t work either. I changed the monitor and cable, yet the problem persisted. Please let me know what you recommend.
A long PCIe port can accommodate a GPU if it meets the required specifications.
Always verify the cables thoroughly. It's likely one wasn't properly seated, leading to power shortages and failure. Inspect pins or connections for damage. Swapping the PCIe cable with another from your power supply could help—just ensure it matches your setup. If the GPU isn't recognizing it, the issue might be a faulty cable rather than the PCIe slot. Try booting again after replacement. Also, check if you've adjusted any power or BIOS settings recently.
Stay tuned, let me know if you need anything. I understand how stressful this feels. Whenever it happens to me, I get nervous and I really want to find a solution. We’ll get through this together.
I used another PCI-E cable from my power supply and it didn’t work. I also checked the 24-pin CPU cable and everything seemed fine, but it still didn’t function. Appreciate your assistance!
