Your system experiences frequent crashes during gameplay.
Hello. I assembled my new PC and encountered several issues while playing games. My specifications include a Thermaltake Smart BX1 RGB 750W GIGABYTE A520M DS3H AC Rzen 9 5900x, powered by an AIO cooler. I've updated the drivers and installed the latest OS updates. The problem is that games frequently crash without any error messages or warnings, making it hard to identify the cause. Despite running stress tests on my GPU with FurMark (which reached 71°C for more than an hour) and my CPU with CPU-Z (reaching 70°C for over an hour), the crashes still occur whenever I play at ultra settings with 2K resolution.
I believe the high settings are contributing to the issue. It seems a 6700XT might not handle that much. Even my RTX3060ti with 8GB and OC isn't comfortable with ultra at 2K+ in some games; I have to pick just a few settings to run ultra while keeping everything else at low to medium. I’d start fresh with basic to moderate settings and gradually increase only what really helps, without going too far. Another point — your monitor — is it better than 60Hz? If not, that’s probably part of the problem too. That setup needs vertical sync, and ultra settings with any resolution become nearly useless. Wow, the hottest and most popular CPU from AMD is causing issues with a motherboard that lacks proper heatsink support on its VRM. The board is failing to manage the power demands of the 5900X, leading to shutdowns.
I also questioned it, though I didn't locate a suitable image for this model.
Visit the MBO page at gigabyte.com for detailed information about the A520M-DS3H-AC-rev-1x motherboard.
Thank you for your feedback. Your system is still running smoothly—no shutdowns occur, and it doesn’t overheat beyond 75°C. It seems unrelated to CPU power limits since it never stops under stress tests. When playing games like RDR2 or Dying Lights 2, CPU usage stays low (20-40% at 4.3GHz), consuming only 70-80W with temperatures staying under 70°C. I’m puzzled as to how game settings could cause crashes. You might try running Cyberpunk 2077 on ultra with 1660TI—no crash, but performance drops to 5-10 FPS. If you achieve 60 FPS on ultra with RT (like Dying Lights 2), that’s fine too. I don’t see how V-Sync affects stability. Your monitor is great; the difference between 144Hz and 60Hz isn’t noticeable. Perhaps you’re not a dedicated gamer, or your setup has other factors at play. For anyone with similar specs facing issues, I managed to resolve it by checking AMD and Radeon settings and disabling GPU overclocking. The GPU clock at 2.63GHz seems to trigger crashes, though no voltage or thermal issues appear during overclocking.
