I’m really looking forward to GTA V coming out on PC, but I’m a bit concerned about running it smoothly at 1080p. Do any of you have more experience? I’ve got a setup with an Intel i3, 6GB RAM, and a GTX 645. Could someone let me know if this should work or if an upgrade might be necessary?
The requirements are: basic needs include OS such as Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1, Windows Vista 64 Bit Service Pack 2 (NVIDIA graphics advised for Vista) Processor options are Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 cores) or AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core @ 2.5GHz Memory Video options: NVIDIA 9800 GT 1GB or AMD HD 4870 1GB (DX 10, 10.1, 11) Sound cards must support 100% DirectX 10 HDD space 65GB DVD drive recommended specifications include OS Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1 Processor alternatives: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.2GHz (4 cores) or AMD X8 FX-8350 @ 4GHz (8 cores) Memory 8GB Video card choices: NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB or AMD HD7870 2GB Sound card must be 100% DirectX 10 compatible HDD space 65GB DVD drive
The GTX 645 seems to work decently at 720p with that GPU, everything else is fine. The 1GB of VRAM is the main issue; otherwise I could see 1080p medium. I think a cheaper used model around 290 would help, which is what I upgraded from. It’s much better now, though it failed recently so I’m back to this setup.
yup, back when i benchmarked this card that is about where it ran 720p-med settings with no aa and i got about 50-60fps
You'd have to boost the settings to 60 frames per second or reduce visual quality.
What amount are you prepared to invest for an upgrade, or would it be beyond your budget?
I would enhance the processor, GTA 4 had issues with its porting but it remained limited mainly due to the CPU constraints.
