the specifications include a ROG STRIX X670E-E gaming Wi-Fi, dual 32GB DDR5 RAM at 6200mt/s with OC timings of 30-30-36-30 and a maximum of 65535 cycles. the CPU is a 9950x3d processor with undervolt settings and a -25 curve. it uses a Thermalright 360 AIO cooler. the power supply is a Seasonic 1600W titanium unit purchased on December 6th, 2025. the GPU is an MSI 5090 Ventus. storage consists of 4TB NVMe for gaming/recording and 1TB NVMe for Windows 11. the operating system is Windows 11, with a monitor model of Alienware 500Hz. there are concerns about low scores during superposition on the 5090, as it typically aims for 30k+ scores but often falls short. using MSI Afterburner allows maintaining stable speeds around +3000 MHz CL30 and +350 MHz core clock with full power limits. frequencies remain above 3000 during testing at 1080p EXTREME, and temperatures stay under 70°C with high fan speeds. gameplay remains smooth, though occasional stutters are observed. it seems the issue might lie in CPU or RAM overclocking, possibly due to driver issues (DDU) or outdated BIOS versions.
you’re only reaching around 30k on the site.
here’s what you’re observing?
i’m able to play games and everything works fine, but i’ve seen some stutters. could it be due to a bad cpu or ram overclock?
my setup is:
mobo: rog strix x670e-e gaming wifi
ram: 2x32ddr5 @6200mt/s with fclk of 2200 (stock is 6000mt/s) timings oc:30-30-36-30 max 65535 as the tras or similar cycle thing)
cpu: 9950x3d, undervolted with -25 curve
gpu: msi 5090 ventus
when i post a troubleshooting thread, it’s good to list your full system specs.
present them like this:
cpu:
cooler:
motherboard:
ram:
storage:
gpu:
power supply:
case:
operating system:
monitor:
please include the age of the psu along with its make and model.
also, tell me about the bios version for your board right now.
regarding the undervolts you’ve applied, do you notice fewer stutters after removing them?
and when you mention your ram kit, remember that the optimal setting for your build is typically around 6000mhz or 6000mt/s for ddr5.
Scores remain steady at 28k. I managed to lower the CPU voltage to negative 60 once, but wasn't confident about it. Using CoreCycler revealed a core 8 failure, so I lowered it further to 30 and tried again—same issue. At 25 volts it works, and after a few cycles I can pass CoreCycler. Also noticed on LatencyMon that nvlddmkm.sys spikes during DPC latency, which usually causes stuttering when opening games like Steam or Epic. Updated specs are in, including PSU age, BIOS, and RAM. I might try undervolting again, but doubt it’s the cause of the stutters.
Removing undervoltage from the CPU and disabling overclock on the GPU still gives similar results, though they're actually lower because the GPU overclock was removed.
Were there notable shifts in temperature prior to and following the changes? Is the CPU-Z tool currently set up?
