Satellite technology as it stands isn't suitable for gaming due to the vast separation between you and the satellite. The process involves sending a request via a modem to an ISP, which might be far away. The ISP connects to a server, processes your command through fiber links, and forwards the data to a satellite with a large antenna. There, data from multiple users is combined before being sent back to you. This setup means your connection isn't a direct link to the game server in another country. For example, if you're in France, the game server is in the US, while the upload hub is in the UK. Your data travels from France → ISP in France → US → back to France ISP → UK → Satellite → to you. Because the satellite sits thousands of kilometers above, data must travel tens of milliseconds each way, which is too slow for real-time gaming. This delay would be unavoidable without physically lowering the satellites, as gravity would drain their fuel quickly.

Back then, finding a place online was limited to satellite or slow dial-up. That’s why I left right away. If you’re in an area with just those choices, you have to relocate or adapt.

Maybe a direct wireless connection would be effective.

1. Do nothing, play games that don't need internet
2. Visit a location with internet access
3. Use a mobile hotspot if service is available
4. Add a high-gain antenna for better signal
5. Set up a microwave or LOS connection
6. Connect via fiber from home to the nearest node

There’s no option to improve that slow connection (satellite internet). Expect big delays and limited data limits. You’re likely in a remote spot with poor service, which isn’t cost-effective for providers. Unless you try Fixed wireless or LTE, you’ll face similar issues—just not as bad as satellite. Speeds could match, but caps will still apply. In short, rural living isn’t ideal for reliable internet. Consider moving to a city for better connectivity.

Currently, many remote locations offer wireless internet services (WISP) or fixed home connections via cellular providers such as Verizon or T-Mobile, which provide unlimited data plans. I’d consider these alternatives for your region.

Satellite internet isn't practical for most uses except big file transfers due to its high latency. Cellular internet would be preferable if available, especially with 4G LTE, as it offers lower latency and better bandwidth compared to many cable connections.

No one is certain about the O.P.'s location, yet I find it interesting how it's often placed in rural areas of the USA or North America. Canada is sometimes included, but it's not uncommon to hear people say "where do you live?"
