Your Ryzen 5 RX 6600 struggles with simple games like Cuphead. Consider checking your settings or upgrading components.
Here are some possible solutions:
- Upgrade your SSD to a faster one for smoother performance.
- Consider using a dedicated graphics card if your current setup is causing lag.
- Check for background processes or resource-heavy applications that might be slowing things down.
- Ensure your system drivers are up to date.
- If the issue persists, try switching to a different NVMe drive or testing with another one.
You'll need to observe the system's behavior during gameplay. Monitoring CPU and GPU temperatures, usage, power consumption, and clock speeds together provides valuable insight. Each metric alone offers limited value, but when viewed together they reveal a clearer picture. As a player, you can track these stats live through the built-in AMD Adrenaline overlay. You can set preferences, and I think pressing Ctrl+Shift-O will toggle it on and off.
Welcome to the discussions! The CPU isn't powerful enough for smooth performance in Cuphead, but it shouldn’t cause stuttering. A regular potato can handle Cuphead. Questions to consider: Are you able to upgrade your hardware? If yes, what funds do you have? I think you’re likely looking at two 8GB modules instead of one 16GB. If it’s just a single stick, that might lead to some issues. NVMe drives are essentially SSDs, so if the operating system runs on an SATA SSD and the games are on NVMe, that should work. Or perhaps the games are stored on a HDD? Also, what’s your monitor resolution? Have you adjusted any settings beforehand? For basic fixes, try updating your GPU drivers and run DISM and SFC checks.
Thank you for your assistance. I apologize for the delayed reply (I was in the hospital). I plan to run the game again soon, record the temperatures and other data, and share them here. Previously, both CPU and GPU ran at 60–70 °C, which was normal. I also noticed large drops in FPS and resource usage during gameplay. I’ll try it again. Appreciate your help. Unfortunately, I won’t be upgrading for a while. Yes, I have two 8 GB drives. The operating system uses a SATA SSD and the games are stored on NVMe. My monitor is a 24-inch, 1080p, 75Hz display. I didn’t adjust settings initially, assuming the issue was with the CPU or GPU—along with image stuttering, audio lag, and freezing. I’ve already updated the GPU drivers but will test the other suggestions you mentioned (DISM and SFC). Thank you for your time. Until recently, I played Elden Ring without problems. Then I removed all my games and deleted accounts (I was trying to quit gaming, which turned into a habit). The only game I can still access now is Helldivers 2, but it’s not great for testing because of its poor optimization.
You've run the game for 10 minutes and everything seemed okay. The monitoring data indicated stable performance: GPU usage around 4%, memory at 480 Mb, CPU temperature near 36°C, and frame rates around 60 fps. When you tried Helldivers 2, it also ran smoothly with similar metrics. It might just be a minor fluctuation or a temporary issue. Thanks for sharing the details!
Have you checked the SFC/DISM records? Did you take any action?
