I didn’t give the CPU enough stress for months and I’m trying to force it to run at 4.2GHz again after two weeks with every voltage setting but nothing works. Just using 1.250V and 4.050MHz makes it run fine. Anyone have any ideas? Could be the motherboard, RAM, or a bad CPU pin—this is really frustrating!

Ryzen isn't designed for heavy overclocking. While some enthusiasts capture it on video, they rarely reveal the modifications or the time spent searching for the ideal chip. They understand what they're doing, which you seem to lack. Stick with stock settings—overclocking can harm your system. Very frustrating if you don’t have another option.

Activate pbo and finish the job. Manual overclocking of Ryzen isn't advised.

Switching from PBO to manual OC on my 2600X improved performance from 3.8 all cores to 3.95 all cores. I only use that profile during transcoding, but it’s drawing 113W from a 95W chip. The Ryzen is already hitting the redline when PBO is enabled.

Ryzen struggles with OC, particularly with Zen 2, so manual tuning isn't worth the effort. With such poor results, anyone trying to push beyond 1.45V would likely see their chip fail. Unless you're going all-in on overclocking above 2V—which no one does—expect a severely degraded processor at best. In most cases, you'll end up with a much weaker CPU or something functional but not optimal. If you're looking to boost performance, consider adjusting RAM settings first instead of diving into manual OC. The burner check is essential when trying to optimize RAM, and searching for your chip's profiles usually shows better results than trying to create an OC profile from scratch.

I wouldn't bother boosting a 3600, as most reviews indicated little to no improvement in performance after overclocking.

Was nicht sicher, ob 4.2 Ghz OK ist – vielleicht war das Boost-Klopper?
