I use an i7-10700k and have a powerful setup including an RTX 3080, 32 GB RAM, an 8TB SSD, and a 4K monitor. The main concern is the i7-10700k itself. I need to run future titles at ultra settings for 4K at 60fps. So far, everything runs smoothly even for games like Cyberpunk 2077 without ray tracing. However, with UE5, my doubts are growing based on what I've seen. Epic claims serious use requires more than 8 cores, and the i7-10700k has only 8 cores. I'm still looking for guidance on whether that's enough. Eventually, I'm planning to upgrade to the i7-12700k, which should definitely handle it. Until then, I want to know if the i7-10700k will be sufficient. (I know a lot of performance depends on the game, but generally I’m wondering about 4K 60fps at ultra.) Thanks for any thoughts!
I check how my games perform with the settings you prefer. That’s all I can say. No one can predict what next year’s updates will bring. Recent DOOMs that are heavily optimized might still work well. Games that demand more CPU power may struggle. I’d stick with your 10700k and consider upgrades only when performance falls below what you find satisfactory.
