Hello, I'm checking if your GPU is limited by your CPU. If it is, which CPU would pair best with it?

My CPU runs nearly full all the time during gameplay while my GPU stays around 50-70%.

You're facing a CPU bottleneck. To ease this, consider upgrading to a high-core CPU such as an 8700k or 9900k, though a BIOS update might be needed for the 9000 series based on your motherboard. Alternatively, you could switch to a newer motherboard or CPU for the latest generation. These parts are usually affordable on eBay.

It varies by game and configuration, but an i5-8500 isn't ideal for current titles. It offers just six threads and its single-core/thread speed lags behind 12th/13th generation or Zen 4 systems. However, the graphics card isn't particularly powerful, so pairing it with a newer i5 probably won't significantly boost performance—unless the game is extremely CPU-intensive (like 1080p low settings or competitive esports).

@Tetras highlighted that minimal in-game configurations can lead to slowdowns. Consider boosting your settings for your game or wherever you're experiencing issues.
