Hello everyone, I’m facing some thermal throttling problems with my i5 13600kf. When I first assembled the system, I thought I added enough cooling paste, but after opening it up and removing the heat spreader, there was a bare spot. After reassembling with more paste (but not too much), I’m confident in the coverage. During an XTU stress test, the CPU still throttled at the end, though it lasted longer than before. I reviewed the test log attached: MonitorLog2023-08-10_06-29-09-135.csv. It seems my CPU clock might be running too high for the cooling setup. I’ve checked my build details here: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gJt3Cd. The system is trying to push it to 5GHz, but I’m unsure if turning off turbo boost is the right fix. I’d appreciate any advice or solutions you can share. Thanks! ~<3

Have you thought about using an LGA1700 contact frame?

I didn’t think about it at all—I assumed the contact and pressure on the cooler were okay. Still curious, though, about your reasoning; could it really improve the conditions?

I found the concept appealing after some research and decided to purchase it. It might not fix your thermal throttling problems, but it could still be beneficial overall!

The D15S offers ample capacity for a 13600k. I usually suggest the AK400 because it meets their needs well. But with your situation, you have an uncovered area on the heatspreader—likely due to a properly placed cooler—and this seems to be a contact problem that’s frequent on the LGA1700.

I'll attempt to locate that contact.

The contact frame typically addresses these problems...
