Your Potato PC is adequate for Sea of Thieves.
I recently learned that the new Rare Microsoft exclusive Sea Of Thieves can run on a very basic setup. I’m excited because it means I might finally be able to play a newer game after so long. My system specs are: Intel Core i3 4130T @ 2.90 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce 800M + Intel HD Graphics 4400 (just a guess), 4GB RAM, 276 GB free on D:, Windows 10 with DirectX 12. I know it’s not top-notch, but will it work smoothly? For reference, Burnout Paradise ran well on mine and felt very responsive, though it was older and more demanding. And it managed around 30 FPS—definitely not 60, but definitely better than what I’m used to. What settings should I use for the best chance of success? Thanks!
We'd find out by testing them ourselves. The minimum standards seem weak, so the best approach is to play and see.
It caught my attention too; Sea of Thieves seems well optimized, although I can't confirm exactly how it performs on your machine (it depends on your setup). The requirements have just been released, and based on what I've seen, reducing the resolution significantly could get you around 20-30 frames per second. https://www.pcgamer.com/sea-of-thieves-s...-revealed/ If you're willing to lower settings, it might work smoothly.
Sure, just let me know what you need—any tips or advice would be great.
Thanks! 540p might not have been ideal, but I managed to understand the details from the spec sheet. It seems like the issue was figuring out how it ended up with me, so I reached out about the disappointment. Overall, it looks like it’s okay.
It won't even reach 30fps in 540p. According to Nvidia's site, the GF 800M offers 1.5 times the performance of the HD4400. Meanwhile, the suggested Intel Iris Pro Hd 6200 provides 2.3 times the HD4400's speed. Even at 480p with minimum settings, the frame rate should stay under 30fps on average. It might hit 30fps smoothly at 360p, but that's just... well, it should at least get the game running.
