Hey everyone, I got a HP Laptop that's about one year old and has built-in Bluetooth used for connecting to my AirPods Pro. A month ago, it wouldn't connect at all. After taking out the device and trying to add it back, it still wouldn't show up on the phone either. When I tried moving photos from an Android phone to this laptop, the phone couldn't find the Bluetooth connection. I checked every setting and updated all drivers. Then, something strange happened and it started working again. But last week, the same problem came back. All my settings are still current. I took out all the Bluetooth items in Device Manager and had Windows reinstall them when I turned on the computer. Still, no device shows up. Even after running the built-in troubleshooter, nothing helped. The Bluetooth icon just turns on and off, but it doesn't work. What should I do?
Update your post and write down all the details about your laptop, like what version of Windows it has and what parts are inside. Then open Reliability History on the screen. Look for any red or yellow boxes that say something went wrong with a specific part. If you see a pattern where things start failing when Bluetooth is connected, check those entries. You can also use Event Viewer to find more info, but that tool is harder to use and takes longer to figure out. Read the guide on how to fix it if needed. Hopefully, some new errors will show up right before or at the time your Bluetooth stops working.
Thanks for getting back to me. I looked through the reliability history, but there is nothing about bluetooth listed. The system says it's working fine because I can turn it on and off without any errors. The real problem is that the device doesn't see any connected gadgets. Laptop details: Windows 11 Home (22H2) - HP Pavilion - AMD Ryzen 5 5625U with Radeon Graphics at 2.3 GHZ, using 8 GB RAM on an SSD.
Other than the switch showing "on/off" what else is being used to determine if Bluetooth is on or off? Try the following: Turn Blue tooth off and look in Windows Task Manager, Resource Monitor, and Process Explorer (Microsoft, free). Running this command shows a list of devices that are off or in an unknown status. The system finds two types of Bluetooth things: one is from Microsoft, another is just a standard device using the RFCOMM protocol. There is also a Realtek adapter. All these show as OK when I look for them. In the task manager (the control center), there isn't any change happening. However, I can see some windows services related to Bluetooth and one background process that runs a realtek bluetooth app.
Okay: What do you have and what can you do to prove the AirPods work fine without any problems in other places? Are they working perfectly everywhere else? Thinking about those "Unknowns" - make sure to check driver downloads and settings yourself. Do it all manually. Don't use any third-party downloaders or installers.
The little earbuds work fine. That's why I'm checking with my Android tablet too since it found them. But the laptop doesn't see anything at all when trying to find these gadgets.

Before, things would match up fine. But now it's failing to find the pair like before.
