Your PC seems to be experiencing issues with Stuttering Assassin's Creed Syndicate. Let me check for possible fixes.
I purchased AC Syndicate and began using it yesterday. To my surprise, the performance isn’t optimal on my system. Although I’ve adjusted the graphics settings—high, ultra, low, etc.—and toggled VSync or full screen, there’s no noticeable improvement. I’ve already looked into possible solutions and tried several fixes, but they haven’t resolved the issue.
My graphics drivers are current (Adrenalin 20.5.1), and with the latest BIOS updates, everything seems up to date—CPU, chipset, Windows, and RAM. The only concern is my BIOS isn’t updated. I’m not sure if updating it would help since my motherboard lacks a BIOS selector.
I’ve read about this topic before and installed various patches, yet nothing works. My system specs are: Ryzen 7 3800X (original), Asus B450 Plus Gaming (BIOS v1820), two 8GB Patriot Viper Steel 3000 MHz cards, AsRock RX 5600 XT Phantom Gaming, an SSD Kingston A400 480 GB, and an XFX XT 500W.
I recorded a video showing the problem—changing graphics didn’t help. I downloaded RivaTuner to monitor CPU and GPU usage during stutters. The footage revealed drops in usage percentages when the game stuttered. I moved the game to my SSD, but nothing changed. Screenshots of my hardware are attached for reference.
I also noted that RDR2 had a similar issue until I switched from Vulkan to DX12. However, AC Syndicate doesn’t support that change. With RDR2, only my GPU usage decreased, not mine. My RAM is a 3000 MHz CL16 model; booting with the default 3000 MHz CL16 DOCP profile would have failed, but I managed a stable 3000 MHz using CL14. I’m uncertain if this instability is causing the problem, as my RAM knowledge isn’t strong.
I’ve taken photos and detailed my setup so someone can help identify whether the issue lies with my CPU, RAM, or another component. I really need assistance—I’m frustrated because the stuttering is affecting my experience. Thank you for your time. If I’ve misstated anything, please let me know. English isn’t my first language.
Are there any external devices linked to your setup besides the keyboard and mouse? It seems odd, but I experienced the same problem in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel—disappearing once the Xbox controller was unplugged.
Interestingly, I kept connecting my Xbox controller throughout the sessions (I usually use it for Assassin's Creed), yet I managed to play without any stuttering. When I removed the controller, the game briefly paused before launching smoothly again. Surprisingly, starting with the controller plugged in caused stuttering instead. It’s unclear what’s happening, but your advice seems to help resolve the issue. Thanks a lot! Ubisoft and those unusual PC ports—haha!
