Your PC seems to be acting oddly.
Hey everyone. I recently upgraded my PC during the launch week of the Ryzen 3700x, putting together a full setup: RTX 2080 with a vertical cooler, MSI x570 gaming pro carbon, Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 16GB, a 650W Seasonic Gold PSU, and a new Corsair H100i v2. Everything functioned smoothly until about two weeks ago. Nothing changed, but while browsing 3D research images, the Windows 10 viewer slowed down and became sluggish with each photo. This issue persisted even when I frequently opened and closed images, until the app would freeze completely. Eventually, it would lock up entirely, preventing me from closing it even with Task Manager open. Later, my PC experienced random freezes.
My initial guess was that the vertical mount might be restricting the cooler airflow, which had been stable before. Even temperatures stayed normal, but performance dropped. I checked temperatures with MSI DragonCenter—CPU showed 255°C, which seemed unrealistic. I then opened HWMonitor to see the CPU running at 1.144V and 1.4V max.
What might be happening? Should I try installing the cooler to test if the H100i is faulty, or should I reinstall Windows?
I would start by reinstalling Windows. It seems like there might be a software problem.
I'm facing the same issue on two of my computers. The only format that remains unchanged is *.bmp. I'm currently using irfanView, but the photo viewer also changed its icon during the update, which is causing problems. Windows updates seem to be disrupting everything.
