Hi, I encountered a strange issue with my Valorant PC setup. After connecting the phone to the PC, the monitor showed no signal while everything else seemed normal. The CPU fan was still running, GPU fans were off, and the case fans weren’t either. When I pressed the power button for 15 seconds, the PC didn’t shut down. There was a red light on the motherboard with a CPU indicator next to it, and the power button LED stayed lit. After turning off the power supply and restarting, the same problems persisted. I built the machine two days ago and invested $1300, so I’m really worried about it failing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Parts list: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/94LZ78

If the motherboard displays a CPU error LED, try reinserting the CPU into the socket. Ensure all power cables are securely connected. When installing the CPU cooler, verify it's properly positioned, has thermal paste applied, and that no residue remains on the heatsink label. Have you experienced any other problems with the PC besides this? Did you feel a static discharge when placing your phone on the system?

I didn’t feel any surprise when I connected my phone to the PC. The system remains active, and I’m unsure how to shut it down completely. Before launching Valorant, my game froze and prompted an update, though I thought I had the most recent drivers installed.

It's okay to shut off the PC at the power source if it doesn't respond. The crash while gaming and loss of display visibility might result from a display driver failure. This doesn't clarify why the system isn't turning on or showing CPU error LEDs. For verification, inspect the display cable connecting your monitor (and graphics card side) to ensure it's securely plugged in and hasn't been dislodged.

The F4-3200C16D-32GVK RAM shown in the parts list isn't included in the board manufacturer's QVL. I've noticed stability problems on multiple systems that were resolved by using RAM recommended for QVL. This might be related to your issue if it continues. It seems Ryzen and their compatible boards sometimes behave unpredictably with RAM. My 5900X worked well for a month before experiencing random freezing in sleep mode and no-video POSTs for several months until I consulted @BiotechBen. Additionally, turning off sleep mode in Windows helped fix other minor issues that lingered. Edited January 17, 2023 by An0maly_76 Updated with more info

Great that it worked quickly. I'll double-check the cable isn't causing any issues, since they shouldn't loosen that easily.

It seems strange that holding the power button doesn't shut off the machine's power. This might be because of a wiring error during connection. For troubleshooting, consider disassembling the device, reinserting the CPU, using just one RAM stick, removing the graphics card, and relying on the integrated GPU. Observe any changes in the LED indicators on the motherboard and listen for the boot beep. Test flipping the memOK switch or trying a different RAM slot. If these steps don't resolve the issue, you may need to swap components or seek professional help.
