Hello, your issue seems related to performance on the updated system. The upgrade from an older GPU might not have matched the new hardware's capabilities, especially with the current settings. Checking for driver updates, ensuring proper cooling, and verifying game compatibility could help improve frame rates.

Rust runs best on single-core processors and the R7 2700 doesn’t handle it well. Upgrading the GPU didn’t help much. A 5000 series chip would work without issues if you update the BIOS, but a 5600X or better would give noticeable gains over the 2700.

What I've heard is that Rust isn't optimized and prefers single-core CPU speed similar to a game from fifteen years back. Its performance feels modest compared to what it could be, especially since the Ryzen 2700 struggles in that area, and playing at lower resolutions doesn't make much difference.

Your order for a Ryzen 7 5800X looks solid. It should perform well for your needs.

Yes! For gaming on platforms that benefit from bigger caches, a 5800X3D would be ideal in most titles. That’s roughly all the improvements you’d notice compared to the 2700.
