Your PC frequently stops working unexpectedly.
I'm facing some serious issues with my PC. It keeps crashing unexpectedly, sometimes completely and other times intermittently. I notice it freezes during video playback or when I'm drawing, especially with games like Rocket League or Fortnite. It usually happens after about 30 minutes to an hour, though it varies. I've tried updating drivers, adjusting GPU settings, and even performing a clean install, but nothing seems to fix it. My system specs are: Intel Core i7-920, 8GB DDR3 RAM, AMD Radeon 380 with 2GB, 500W power supply, 80+Bronze. Any advice would be appreciated.
Bluescreens often indicate issues like memory problems, system or page file faults. After checking now, I didn’t see any unusual errors besides slui.exe, so I’m not sure about that. The games typically don’t display errors and just terminate. I should have mentioned that sometimes after a crash, an error from the Radeon software appears, which can happen on the desktop during a large screen reload.
The DDR3 is usually installed in a 4x2 or 2x4 arrangement. A random memory failure without connection to the workload often points to defective RAM, which a basic test won't reveal. A straightforward check involves disconnecting all but one stick and testing with minimal RAM to assess stability. Adjust the RAM as needed based on results.
I checked CPU-Z and noticed it uses triple channel mode. I realized my setup has a 4+2+2 configuration, but the matching dimensions are wrong because both kits failed. I can't replace them yet, but I'm using this setup for a while now. It wasn't working consistently before.
Are you planning to adjust the configuration to check for stability?
I'm worried the computer might not function well with just 4GB of RAM, possibly needing 6 to enable dual-channel, but that could cause instability due to the odd number.
It appears to function correctly now, though occasional driver crashes persist but are less frequent.
