My internet connection drops sometimes, feeling like the LAN cable was just turned off (red icon on taskbar). It can reconnect by itself, but sometimes stays disconnected with weak signal (yellow) or completely lost (red). WiFi works fine without any issues. I've tried different router ports and still get the same result. The troubleshooter says "Ethernet doesn't have valid ip configuration." Could it mean I have a bad LAN cable?

It might be a faulty cable or a malfunctioning port on your device. If the cable doesn't resolve the issue, you'll likely have to rely solely on Wi-Fi or invest in a new Ethernet card.

I plan to purchase a fresh cable and check. I’m hoping it’s just the cable.

Consider the possibility that the physical cable isn't the issue, since occasional problems suggest a timing concern. Verify if your NTP server clock is refreshed. I've experienced mismatches where the server time didn't align with my local zone, causing internet connection drops. Right now, I rely solely on pool.ntp.org for internet time instead of combining ntp1.dlink.com and time.nist.gov as backup.
