Hello! You're looking to upgrade your old i7 920 with a Radeon 5850 for a 4K GTA 5 experience. Ideally, you want a NVIDIA 980 or similar, but you're concerned the 920 might limit performance. Are there other options in the same price range? Also, you're thinking about getting a 4K monitor with G-Sync, but you're aware of cheaper alternatives. And just to be clear, you don't want screen tearing! Let me know your thoughts.

You need two 980s for 4K resolution. Your i7 works fine if it’s boosted to about 4GHz.

The 920 should work, but it might hit some limits in GTA V since it's quite CPU-intensive. Switching to a 980 would likely give you a smoother experience.

Your Q6600 performs well at 30-60fps with the 650ti boost at 1080p, and maintaining 4k will likely be fine unless you upgrade your GPU.

It's okay now. I plan to upgrade in a few years if you're looking for the best visuals and responsiveness.

You're getting solid performance on your setup—70 to 80 frames per second at 1080p with medium to high settings. That’s great for gaming or smooth content.

The 920 will squeeze out every available card. I owned one (up to 4.4) with a 970. It was dragging me down 200 frames in CS:GO and around 40 in GTA V. Whatever you do.

Some say your setup is quite old for handling 4K gameplay. One GPU might handle 4K, but it won’t run smoothly at 60 frames per second.

I own an i5 4690K and a GTX 770 running at top configurations, achieving 70-80 FPS with 2x MSAA.
