finally upgraded to the 9070 xt from 2080 super. it worked well at first but over time small issues appeared, such as flickering corners in games and occasional glitches on other monitors. it also caused strange artifacts that shut down the computer during a Discord stream and led to blue screens when closing games. i’m unsure what to do and this is really worrying me. no clear guidance seems available.

Did you remove the previous nVidia drivers using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)?
DDU version 18.1.4.1 is available for download.
It’s a tool designed to delete AMD/NVIDIA/INTEL graphics driver packages completely, ensuring no remnants remain, even in the registry.
You can find it at www.guru3d.com.
If you're facing ongoing problems, consider backing up your data and performing a clean Windows installation.

Is the motherboard BIOS current? Seems the 7C02v1J5 (beta version) is the most recent.
AMD chipset drivers?
https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads.../b450.html
What graphics drivers are you employing now? Are they consistent with your initial setup? I'm still hoping for the July update and won't delay until August unless necessary.

Keep the previous card, reinstall the correct drivers, and check for stability. If successful, send back the updated card.

One common method involves using a USB stick. Pressing the Windows Key + R, then entering "cmd" without quotes, followed by typing "systeminfo" without quotes, will display information across from BIOS Version.

She could consider installing the new operating system first.

the bios version lists american megatrends international, llc. 1.i0 from 2022-07-25.
i've also been testing a bit; i discovered my ram was slowed down after installing the new gpu, which caused some issues, and the flickering in games stopped when i turned off freesync. i haven't played games for long yet, so i'll keep recording if strange behavior continues but currently everything seems to be functioning properly.

I noticed the RAM speed reset issue. Regarding Freesync, it could relate to FPS falling outside the monitor's refresh range, such as when exceeding 144 fps on a 144 fps display or dropping below 48 Hz, triggering frame compensation which may have bugs. This often depends on the specific monitor.

I'm glad it seems to be working better.
Please let me know in a few days or weeks if it's fully resolved.

For BIOS, resetting CMOS might help clear things up for your new GPU—great choice!
It’s up to you since a BIOS update isn’t strictly required, but it would fix some security flaws, update CPU microcode (which can boost performance, especially on Ryzen 5000 chips), and handle the CMOS reset automatically. The latest BIOS is from September 2024, so even though it's labeled as beta, MSI likely updated it by now if there were significant problems.

Have a great day and stay safe!
