I'm checking out purchasing a new motherboard and CPU. The CPU I'm interested in is the Ryzen 7 5800X, and the motherboard is the ASUS AMD B550-HDV. I reviewed the PC parts picker and saw what's available.

Warning, the motherboard requires a matching CPU to install the BIOS upgrade. It doesn’t allow flashing back in any way. Since both the CPU and board have been used for a while, it’s likely they include a suitable BIOS by default.

If that’s the option you’re after, I’d secure it. If it doesn’t fit, AMD offers a loaner CPU program. They’ll provide one that can be used to update the BIOS. It may require some patience, but it’s achievable.
