With two CPUs on a 5950x motherboard and a B450 Aorus Wi-Fi board, the lights flickering and the PSU warning sound suggest something might be wrong with the power delivery or short circuits. The fact that the pins are shorted when both are in but not when removed points to a possible connection issue. Check the wiring, ensure proper grounding, and verify the PSU output. If the problem persists, consider testing with a different power supply or consulting a technician.
It sounds like there is a clear path for power through the CPU, which is good if you want to power the CPUs (you need a closed circuit for power to flow). I would not have expected the path to be that clear with the CPU off, but that should not be a sign for concern. What made you come to that conclusion?
At power-on, you hear one distinct click from the PSU but nothing activates. Changing to just the 24-pin connector causes everything to turn on except for the CPU, which reports an error. The 8-pin connection produces a click at the PSU without any power being applied.
I've tested two different power supplies, a Corsair 650W and a Seasonic 500W. Only the B450 board is available to me. The PSU functions properly because I have an older FM2+ setup and it performs well with both options.
