My mom's iMac (5K Retina 27-inch, i5, 16GB RAM, 4GB GPU, 2TB drive) performs at comparable frame rates in typical environments. Around 160 fps with normal graphics and settings. Both of us have VSync and frame limits disabled. Why do I see similar performance to a less powerful iMac with a larger display? When I develop, I notice minor jittering that doesn’t make sense. On internet-heavy worlds with big structures, FPS drops to about 90 or lower. I don’t use shaders. I previously played on an MSI GT72 Dominator (2014) with an i7, 16GB, 3GB GTX 870M at 1080p and got smoother results. It’s confusing and frustrating, making me wonder if other games are affected too, though they don’t seem to be struggling much.

Minecraft runs many features in one continuous process, so single-core performance becomes crucial. Consider installing Optifine: https://optifine.net/adloadx?f=preview_O..._pre13.jar. Switching to OpenJ9 instead of Oracle Java improves speed significantly after a short time. For stability and compatibility, Minecraft continues to use an older Java version. https://adoptopenjdk.net/?variant=openjd...ant=openj9
