Hello everyone. I just assembled a PC with 3600 MT/s RAM (two sticks), a Ryzen 5 5600X, and a Gigabyte B550M DS3H AC motherboard. I thought the RAM would start slower, so I opened the BIOS, activated the XMP profile tailored for it (set to 3600), and saved the settings. The machine restarted twice, which concerned me, but finally booted after the third try. I verified the RAM speed and it was still at 2400. I’m unsure what to do since I’m new to this, and I’m reaching out for advice. Why isn’t my RAM frequency increasing, and how can I fix it? Thanks!

Because the PC restarted twice, it seems it didn’t reach POST with XMP speeds, so it restored them to the default setting. If you check the BIOS, XMP is likely turned off. You might try enabling XMP and selecting a frequency lower than 3600, or adjust RAM timings/settings to improve stability. This approach could help prevent crashes and repeated restarts.

The settings remain active even after entering BIOS. I’ll attempt the lower frequency (XMP profile #2, 3000 MT/s).

RMA numbers are faulty; XMP will function properly at rated speeds for any kit under 4000. The 3600 model is a standard low-rated unit that should always operate correctly. If it fails at 3600, your RMA numbers are incorrect and you must return the product.

These generic 3200/3600 chips are built for simple setup and don’t require much tuning, offering solid performance without hassle.

It seemed the memory sticks were misplaced. I moved them from slots A1 and B1 to A2 and B2. The computer no longer restarts twice as it did before, and now it’s operating at 3600 MT/s. Appreciate your assistance!
