Hello! Your RAM is supposed to be 3600 MHz but only reaches 2133 MHz. Based on my findings, the issue seems to be related to voltage problems. Even after adjusting OC settings one by one and together, nothing resolved it. I suspect a power supply or component fault since enabling XMP causes boot failures. The ASUS overclocking tool automatically sets it to 2133, which doesn’t help. You’ve put effort into getting a reliable build within your budget, so this is concerning. Your components include an i9-12900K CPU, NVIDIA 3080Ti GPU, Corsair Vengeance RAM, ASUS Z690-A motherboard, MSI A1000G PSU, and you’re aiming for high performance gaming or streaming. Please let me know what you observe next. Thank you!

Start by locating your RAM's unique SKU (it usually looks like "CMH32GX4M2D3600C18" and should appear on the DIMMs or packaging). Match it with the RAM QVL for your board. If it doesn't appear, it may not be stable or compatible, no matter the speed. Refer to the list for your board below: https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-st...vl_memory/ Ensure XMP/DOCP is enabled in BIOS to allow overclocking. Timings are crucial, and XMP/DOCP sometimes need manual adjustment. Updated August 22, 2022 by An0maly_76

Formal specifications state maximum RAM capacity at 3200Mt/s; values beyond that are considered overclocking without assurance. Performance depends significantly on the memory controller.

I realized the issue only after experiencing it firsthand. My 3200 Ballistix kept running at 2666 until I learned how to turn on XMP/DOCP settings, which then triggered my QVL problems. It took about four months and multiple disassemblies of a $2600 build before I understood the connection. Though others say it doesn't matter, my experience shows that for certain boards, this definitely does. I spent time diagnosing random POST failures every 8-12 cold boots, which were often caused by this exact issue. Updated August 22, 2022 by An0maly_76 Added more info

The only way to reduce the risk of problems is to obtain RAM that matches the specifications you need. If you purchased this RAM, consider returning it or swapping it for a compatible model from the list.
