Hello everyone, welcome to my first post. Please forgive any omissions—I’m still getting the hang of things. I’m a seasoned gamer who mainly plays CS2 (officially CSGO). I understand the game is newer and improvements are ongoing, but I’m curious if upgrading my GPU will help me reach my goals. My current setup includes a 12600kf 32GB 3000Mhz RTX 3070 fe M.2 SSD, and I usually see between 120 and 220 fps. Changing graphics settings or resolution doesn’t seem to boost performance. My CPU is around 40% usage and GPU about 60%. I think there might be something else I’m missing that could help increase frame rates. If you have more details about my rig, I’d appreciate it. Thanks for your support!

The game performs smoothly at the moment. You'll receive fewer drops with a stronger CPU, though you'll still drop below 200 FPS even with the top settings. Reducing graphics quality can boost average FPS, but consistency will remain an issue due to spikes from smoke and explosions.

Sure, for 1440p at 120-220fps makes sense. I assumed the OP was referring to 1080p, which is more common for lower FPS ranges. A 3000MHz clock speed isn’t too fast by itself, but Intel handles it better than Ryzen does.

It seems there are no problems, just some performance limits. Even with the strongest gaming CPU, you might not see much improvement in FPS.

Thanks all for the quick responses. I believe I should hold off for now. I’ll keep an eye on further improvements and consider upgrading later. Appreciate the savings!

It’s good to attempt accessing BIOS and turning off the E-core until the patch is applied. This problem mainly affects i9 13900k / 14900k, where the game relies on efficient cores instead of performance cores, causing a big drop in FPS. It might not help much for you, but it’s worth trying. Keep in mind that doing CPU-heavy tasks will greatly reduce your multi-threaded performance.

I attempted to turn off the ECores, but it didn’t help much for me. It might work better on more advanced systems, according to @WereCat. Fingers crossed for future updates.

I've spent about 70 hours on this game, honestly. The performance isn't great, but you don't need high FPS—it's not a huge issue. Don't worry about the massive bug count. Even with my sand usage, I can't manage more than 260,000 people at full speed. Even in 4K on a 3090 Ti, my CPU hits a bottleneck for that many citizens; I lost 3x speed right away when going up to 200k. The good news is they tested it on an old Xeon and it works smoothly across all 64 threads... We should ask Linus or Alex to try a city with a million people using this AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7995WX model. Check out the link: https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-...pro-7995wx

When your GPU usage drops below 98%, the workload shifts to your CPU. Yes, performance can still be limited by the CPU even if it's running at less than full capacity.
