Occasionally, my Gigabyte M28U makes cracking noises. They mainly occur when I power on or off my monitor, though they can happen at other times too. According to what I’ve read, this is likely due to thermal expansion and is generally fine, particularly during colder months. How often these sounds appear matters for determining if something’s wrong. Capturing them is difficult because they’re sporadic, but I’m planning to record them. The audio seems similar to the video you shared about moving the monitor—it happens briefly, mostly when it shifts. Does this kind of cracking sound normal when I tilt or move the screen? I thought it was typical, but I want to be sure. After removing the plastic and foam around my monitor, I tried unscrewing and reattaching it, which reduced the frequency but didn’t eliminate it entirely. Is this a problem? The sounds you described are popping noises, which differ from cracking. While they’re not unusual in some cases, I’m still trying to understand if cracking is acceptable for my setup.

The video isn’t loading. It seems like a small issue might be at play. These items are constructed from molded plastic, which is big and mostly flat. Any sound will likely become louder. The plastic bends slightly under pressure, and when two pieces slide against each other, noise occurs. As long as it functions properly, everything should work fine.

It seems like a small issue at best. There’s no reason to be concerned—it makes perfect sense and has been effective so far. I was just concerned after hearing that a tight monitor might lead to hairline fractures, but I’m reassured it’s not a problem. Thanks!
