At the six o'clock spot, the fifth column from the bottom is what I understand, near the lower left part of the chip in the fifth line toward the middle.

I attempted it, but the second version is extremely difficult to fold—it twists around 180 degrees.

the vss is grounded properly and functions normally as long as it isn't touching other pins. a short circuit won't occur because there are many other vss pins, making them redundant. a few missing pins won't have a significant effect either.
