I'm experiencing this odd frame stuttering problem with my laptop. Please watch the attached video. This issue occurs in Unreal Engine 5 and other games as well. I've tried several titles like Snowrunner, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, BF4, and none of them stutter regardless of graphics settings. My system specs are: MSI gs65 stealth thin 32GB 2666 (16x2) i7 8750H 2070 MaxQ, Windows 10 Pro 22H2, Nvidia drivers version 556.12 (no success with updates), and I enabled the high performance power plan manually in the Nvidia control panel. The laptop is dead—its battery has swollen, so I removed it. I thought it was overheating, replaced all thermal pads, and reapplied thermal paste on both CPU and GPU yesterday. According to HWInfo, the thermal issues aren't there and the CPU and GPU are functioning normally. I'm really confused and need help. 2024-07-11 15-51-41.mp4

Have you attempted to power cycle the device? Have you used the display driver uninstaller to delete and reinstall drivers? Have you rolled back to a previous driver version? Did you perform a factory reset on Windows?

I’m using the newest drivers, yes, I did it and installed several updates. None of them are working—it’s a fresh setup of Windows 10. I was on version 11 before and changed back to 10 a few days ago.

Have you considered turning off the Spectre security enhancements? That should help with older Intel processors. Also, make sure your BIOS is set to its standard defaults.

Fun fact. You're running an 8th generation i7. I'm excited to see how it performs.

I also set the BIOS to default and turned off the patches. It's still slow.

It doesn’t seem like there’s a simple method to remove the CMOS battery. The last thing that comes to mind is...

Looking for help with installing Windows on an extra drive? Let's check if the problem lies in the hardware or the software.
