I recently purchased a new computer and applied all the latest updates. However, when downloading games, the speed is only 2MB/s. On the networking forum, the speedtester reported 17MB/s download and 2MB/s upload speeds. Did I make a mistake? I’m not very familiar with networking, and my router is behind two walls. I used a powerline adapter connected to my PC via Ethernet.

The files are being downloaded from a specific source, likely Steam or an origin server.

If everyone is getting similar outcomes, it seems like your HDD might be limiting the speed. I notice my internet connection is 50MB/s, but when downloading from Steam onto my HDD it only reaches 5-6 Mb/s, while on my SSD it's 35-40 MB/s. This suggests the HDD could be the bottleneck. Alternatively, your ISP might be throttling certain services like YouTube or Netflix. You could try a VPN to see if that affects the results.

You're experiencing issues with your 970 EVO drive, specifically with read/write speeds. Using a VPN might help mask your IP address and potentially bypass some network restrictions. In the Components Manager, the "PCI-device" and "SM-BUS-Controller" updates seem stuck—this could be related to the problem you're facing. Check the device status or contact support for further assistance.

This software secures your information before it reaches the internet, preventing your ISP from tracking the websites you visit. Usually, ISPs know which sites you use—like when you go to Facebook. Personally, I prefer SEEDVPN because they have a free promotion lasting a year. There are many other VPN options available.

For added safety, consider using DriverBooster from iobit. It’s reliable and trustworthy. You can download the free version, install it, and install each driver individually.

Note: If you encounter any issues or have questions, feel free to ask.

Yes, there are VPN services available for Germany. A VPN is a tool that helps you stay private online by masking your internet activity and connecting you to servers in different locations. It’s useful if you want to access content blocked in your country or protect your privacy.

My speed is now 8mb/s, which is typical for play, but I still have 2mb/s in Steam and Battle.net!

You don’t have to use a VPN because the connection isn’t keeping up with peak performance. This is likely due to damaged wiring—something these powerline adapters often face, which is why they’re still being marketed despite issues. A speed test only checks briefly and doesn’t reflect real usage, so you’ll see fast results temporarily but not sustained download speeds. For better results, connect using a genuine Ethernet cable that links your modem/router directly to your computer.

Yes, it's about 20 meters away and required drilling through the wall!
