Telkom South Africa charges around R1200 ($96 US) for a 10 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up connection, but only delivers about 5 Mbps down and 0.5 Mbps up. The service also suffers from over 200ms latency and frequent instability—definitely not the best internet experience. This is essentially the worst you could expect from ADSL.

Right now I’m getting 15 out of 15 for 15 credits or roughly $9 each month. The top rate I can secure is 100 out of 100 for 35 credits (about $22), but I don’t pay for the internet myself—I let my dad handle it and he’s opted for the most affordable plan. Once we move to our new house, I expect better speeds.
