Is your laptop equipped with built-in Wi-Fi? Have you possibly turned off the Wi-Fi adapter before? Check your available network connections.

Certainly so... It seems you turned off the Ethernet connection on your laptop and might not have set up Wi-Fi properly.

If you don't have WIFI you can't connect to the Internet, that's why you have the wired ethernet
