Recent progress on my triple-core i7 system. Swapped the CPU and thoroughly checked the connections on both the chip and the board. Appears everything is fine, but the issue remains unresolved. I performed an Intel diagnostic test, yet no unusual findings came up. It still identifies itself as a genuine 3-core processor. Further investigation is underway... TESTRESULTS.TXT

The BIOS doesn't directly indicate the number of cores it detects. You might consider installing a Linux ISO, writing it to a USB drive, and then booting from there to check the core count.

I have no idea. I think I'll wait until I fix the problem before selling it. I went to a computer store and explained my issue, but they didn't take it seriously. It seems the CPU has been under heavy use for seven years and is finally wearing out.
