Greetings, short question. My Motherboard's VRM isn't great and I avoided getting an i9 for this exact reason, however, I ended up getting an i7-10700 with an aftermarket cooler. I've run some benchmarks and I don't know if it's underperforming or not, I would guess that it is considering it's behind the i7-7700k in single-core. These tests were done with XMP enabled, I'll also test some games with HWInfo open and see where and if it throttles I'm mostly comparing results with 65w, I don't think my Motherboard could handle power limits off at 125w. All and all my CPU works great, I bought it because I dabble with Video Editing and Photoshop and so far it's working better than my i5-10400F I'll try blowing a fan directly to the VRM and see if it does anything at all, Thank you for your time. My RIG: I7-10700 MSI-B460PRO 32GB (3000mhz, dual channel) RX6700XT

It appears performance isn't exceeding the standard clock rate, as indicated by the "@2.91GHz" label. Expect it to reach around 4.7/4.8GHz. You may need to turn on Intel Boost in the BIOS settings.

Techpowerup's CPU review is available at their site. Guru3D includes Cinebench scores but the benchmark here matches the K model, not a comparable version. You can also run HWInfo64 to monitor clocks, temps, and power usage alongside the tests.

Your 10700 doesn't hit its full boost frequency of 4.8GHz throughout the test—likely averaging around 4GHz according to the results. You can find small bundles of about 20 heat sinks, each roughly 1cm x 1cm, which work well as VRM cooling solutions to boost your power usage.
