I recently assembled a brand new PC using only parts from my previous setup. The sole remaining component from my old machine is my CPU, an Intel I5-10400. I also have an AMD 7700 xt, G.Skill Ripjaws 16 x 2, MSI H510M-A Pro, Samsung 990 Evo Pro, and it runs Windows 11. When I tried using PC benchmarker, it reported underperformance, which is causing me concern—maybe the CPU is the issue.

Underperforming relative to specific standards? Focusing on particular metrics in mind. Try a few sessions to evaluate results. When performance meets expectations, everything is fine. For deeper analysis, consider tools like Intel PresentMon or MSI Afterburner to check GPU activity. If utilization stays under 90%, it could stem from CPU constraints—upgrading the processor might assist. However, maintaining acceptable frame rates usually suffices.

I'll give it a shot; the frame rate looks solid. I was concerned after running Userbenchmark since it showed underperformance versus 81 other machines built alike.

It's possible these other platforms were pushed to their limits for maximum performance. I wouldn't depend on them to judge your PC accurately. UB also carries a pretty poor standing overall. They tend to be very favoring in their assessments.

you have a few cases with your exact motherboard and processor as well as another similar H510M-B model. if your graphics card is struggling, examine the CPU and GPU activity during demanding games. when the CPU usage nears 100% but the GPU usage stays low, it’s likely the CPU is limiting performance.

Avoid benchmarking; it's extremely unreliable. It feels like interrogating Mean Girls. Results come from mostly personal and confidential methods. If you're seeking an upgrade, consider H-series boards—they tend to be basic in features and power delivery.

Ten versions are a bit outdated, but 12400/12600kf might work better.

Thanks for the tip! Unfortunately, I just got this motherboard and can’t send it back. To be honest, I’m really glad it’s been working well so far Smile. It’s just started showing CPU usage around 30-40% even when I’m not doing anything, which is a bit concerning.

It looks like additional processes are active in the background. CPU usage should remain low (0-1%). A snapshot of the startup tab is recommended. Consider performing a full malware scan using Malwarebytes and a rootkit check.
