Hi, I just purchased an HP Omen laptop but it’s not delivering the performance I hoped for. For instance, when playing Valorant, I usually see around 250-300 FPS, which is acceptable, but reviews mention 450-500 FPS. I’ve installed all the drivers, updated Windows, and used the HP Omen Control Panel and support desk for updates. Despite these steps, my laptop still feels sluggish. Even when running games in performance mode with fans at full speed (up to 4800 RPM), my CPU stays around 50°C and GPU around 50-55°C. I’m trying to figure out what’s slowing things down. Any insights or possible causes?
Do they use identical laptops? Are the graphics options identical? Increasing from 250 to 300 fps isn’t slow, and adjusting your monitor’s refresh rate won’t significantly impact performance.
Certain HP laptops impose strict turbo power settings that may cause the CPU to throttle its performance. Consider using ThrottleStop and capture screenshots of the main window, TPL, and FIVR interfaces. Enable the Log File feature to keep a log of your CPU activity. Activate Nvidia GPU monitoring within the Options menu prior to data logging. The GPU could also be experiencing throttling. Intel 13th Gen processors are extremely capable, yet some brands restrict users from reaching their full potential.
