Hey there! You're facing a tough situation with your GTX 1080 on a Ryzen 5 1600—it's really limiting its potential. If you're open to it, upgrading to a Ryzen 7 3700X could help, and you might also consider a better motherboard. As for pairing it with your GTX 1080, the best CPU choice would depend on matching its performance with your GPU's capabilities. Let me know if you want more details!

Honestly, many people misunderstand what a bottleneck really means. In fact, nearly every system has one limited by the GPU. Although you might notice a slight drop in frames per second because the IPC isn't fully optimized compared to some CPUs, perfection doesn't exist. All top-tier setups are affected because the GPU can't deliver enough frames to keep the CPUs working efficiently. Sometimes the CPU itself becomes the limiting factor, unable to handle the frames sent by the GPU. This is the main source of performance issues and visible differences.

The change isn't significant. Switching from 1800x to 3700x only improved frame rates by less than 5 frames per second in most games. Everything remained the same except for the CPU, which was the only factor affecting performance.

Offcourse, if you stick to 1080p and use bright graphics settings, the CPU might struggle.

Try modern warfare, but your PC won’t run smoothly since the CPU falls short of what’s suggested, which is why you need to upgrade.

This indicates that an 1800x resolution is acceptable on a premium graphics card for resolutions above 1080p.

If the PC stops working, it’s not just about insufficient processing power—it could be due to another underlying problem.

Modern warfare runs smoothly on an FX 6300 and performs much better than the suggested 2500k. Probably not because of the 2500k being similar to the 1600x, but rather it’s just a slow snail compared to what you’re used to.
