YOUR GPU SEEMS TO BE SLOW DOWN UNLESS IT'S REALLY NEEDING IT!!!
Hello, my GPU performs best when I run high graphics games. For instance, playing Cyberpunk 2077 at maximum settings with DLSS balanced and ray tracing on ultra at 1080p gives me about 50 frames with around 90% utilization. Switching to the preset "low" with balanced DLSS yields 70 frames and roughly 60% GPU usage. I realized my GPU isn’t working efficiently under those conditions. This also happens with League of Legends, where FPS drops to 90 at only 20% GPU usage. I’m convinced my hardware is lazy. How can I get it to use more power? I’ve reinstalled, updated drivers, reset the GPU in Device Manager, set high performance mode, and changed 3D settings to "Maximum performance," but nothing helps. EDIT: Today I played a ranked League game and hit 40 frames. It seems something is definitely wrong with my PC, not just a bottleneck.
Specs: Windows 10 Home 10.0.19044, Build 19044, x64, B450 TOMAHAWK MAX, Ryzen 7 3700X, stock cooler, GPU: OEM RTX 3060, RAM: 4x 8GB DDR4 3600MHZ, CL18 PSU, 750W BRONZE rating. BIOS: American Megatrends Inc., version 3.70, dated 6/9/2020. Note: Cyberpunk is installed on HDD, League on NVMe SSD.
Your CPU might be limiting performance here, as it can't transmit commands quickly enough for your GPU to handle the tasks. This should be a CPU issue, especially because the game is simple and leaves little work for the GPU.
I believed my Ryzen would suffice for smooth gameplay at 200 frames per second, even with performance constraints.
I believe the uplift could be significant. Spending a lot on a new CPU seems worthwhile if it delivers better performance.
Bottleneck tools often mislead, ignoring the complexity of bottlenecks. It's funny how people point to their GPU while missing the bigger picture. In high-resolution gaming, CPU usually takes precedence over GPU, which is why benchmarks favor 1080p. A setup like 5800X3D with a 3060Ti seems unnecessary unless you're chasing 200+fps in LoL. Even then, powerful GPUs like 4090 or higher are needed, while 12600K or 13600K might be overkill. LoL was designed for older hardware, so more cores don’t always mean better performance—it’s about matching the CPU’s capabilities. Upgrading might not noticeably help unless you're targeting top-tier settings.
I didn’t aim to hit 200 frames. I stopped at 200. The issue arises when it drops below the 90s. Nice tunes, Duke.
