Hey there, last night I enjoyed playing Bioshock Infinite smoothly. Then I switched my PC to work mode and later tried Fortnite with friends. The game suffered from severe lag, stuttering, and dropping FPS, even at the lowest settings. Initially, I blamed the recent update, but Monster Hunter World also had the same issues. No changes were made to my system—no driver updates, no new software installed. I opened Task Manager and saw the GPU constantly hitting 100%. After a clean Windows reinstall, Monster Hunter World still didn’t improve. I adjusted settings in the NVIDIA control panel, removed the HD Audio drivers, turned off the overlay and game task bar, and even switched back to an older video driver. Nothing resolved it. Temperatures were normal (around 50-60°C), and storage cards were nearly empty. If anyone has tips, I’d really appreciate it.

Specs: Intel i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz, NVIDIA GTX 1060 (6GB/16GB), SDD 240GB, HD 2TB, Corsair VS650 (3-4 years), cooler temps, but storage nearly full.

Usually when something begins to behave oddly, I don’t start with reinstalling windows. It’s tough to pinpoint the exact cause—sometimes background apps can slow things down, and figuring out what’s triggering it can be the key. What other programs are running? You have a 6700, so I’d suggest closing everything except the game. That means no YouTube, Discord, or anything else. Since this wasn’t described clearly, it’s hard to know the next steps. I’m not sure if it was a driver problem, but reinstalling that’s no longer an option.

I wasn't the first to reinstall Windows, but it was the final attempt. I realized my order might have been the last action taken. For drivers, I attempted to switch to an older version before and after the reinstall, yet nothing changed—the issue remained consistent. However, adjusting most of the 3D settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel seemed to resolve some problems, such as flickering anti-aliasing and blurry textures. During my initial troubleshooting, I opened other applications like my browser, Discord, and background programs while checking forums. Now, with only the game running, the issue still lingered. It doesn't appear to impact other apps, as I managed to work on Maya without issues.

I ran a few performance tests using the 3DMark utility, here are the outcomes: DirectX 12 DirectX 11 It worked well for benchmarks designed for integrated graphics as well to verify
