During gameplay it often stops unexpectedly, freezing the interface and cutting off sound. The display turns black but the machine remains active and restarts automatically. This issue has occurred before and was resolved by performing a fresh installation of graphics drivers and using Ge force experience. Other attempts with different fixes have not provided lasting results: GTX 1660 SUPER AMD Ryzen 5 5600 with 16GB RAM, XMP enabled at 3200, GEN 3 B550 MSI motherboard, 600W power supply, running Windows 11 Home. I've tried reinstalling drivers via DDU, lowering GPU clock speeds, switching to studio drivers and then back to game mode, cleaning and reinstalling the GPU, updating BIOS/firmware, adjusting NVidia settings, and even checking minidump logs. The logs indicate the problem is linked to nvidialmk.sys or TDR failure. I'm exploring new minidump files and will monitor sleep studies on html: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1...RedtWMmRMO
I have tried asking Microsoft community but any suggestion didn't end up working here's the link: When Playing any game it randomly crashes, the game freezes and the - Microsoft Community
If the issue lies with your GPU, updating drivers won't solve it. Perform an extended GPU stress test to check for crashes; if it does, reduce the GPU clock speed and retry. Also, consider disabling any overclocking features.
Request a friend to lend their PC for fixing issues. Insert your 1660 into their machine, swap the GPU to yours. This helps confirm whether the problem lies with your own device or theirs.
Install an older version of the Game Ready Driver. If I receive a new suggestion, I'll update it. Look in the Event Viewer during the Freeze time for any hints.
Possible causes include overheating or graphics driver problems. Check the Event Viewer for timeout errors with graphics driver restarts.
