Your game speed increases from 60 to 20 after installing Fraps!
While I'm enjoying my game, the FPS stays around 40 to 60. After using Fraps to capture my gameplay, it drops to 20 or even lower—40 to 60...why? Every tool like that seems to behave this way, or maybe only certain programs cause it. If it's just Fraps, are there other options that record gameplay without affecting FPS? Thanks!
Because of that, no one relies on fraps. You’ve got an Nvidia GPU ready. Let’s keep it moving with shadowplay.
The FRAPS video offers superior clarity because it captures uncompressed footage, unlike ShadowPlay which often loses color quality during encoding. For everyday viewing, ShadowPlay provides adequate results, but for those seeking the highest performance, FRAPS remains the optimal choice. You can clearly tell the difference between ShadowPlay clips and real gameplay when compared directly.
FRAPS is quite strict since it captures very high quality video, putting a lot of strain on your PC. For a lighter option, try shadowplay using your NVIDIA GPU—it maintains smooth performance and is simple to operate. It also offers a background recording mode where you just press a key to save the last 20 minutes. You might also consider alternatives like DXTory, OBS, or Bandicam; with OBS you can use Intel QuickSync for seamless recording without any drops.
You may proceed with Fraps, but you must adjust the settings in both Fraps and within the game where you're recording. Every software-based capturing method impacts your game's performance. The extent of changes varies based on the game and your hardware, though most settings you apply will matter.
It seems the issue likely stems from slow recording speed or using an inappropriate codec. Try switching to another recording program with better compression settings. Shadow play might work, but only if you set an extremely high bit rate, otherwise it will appear as low-quality compressed images.
