Without computers, calling parts damaged means they’re electrically harmed, like from a power surge or a failed PSU "killing" the GPU. This phrase has been around for a long time and is widely used, even by non-native speakers. "Fried" has become the standard term.

It didn’t just burn out; it overheated beyond control, likely causing the GPU to fail. A power surge or electrical fault usually leads to such a failure. If the GPU stopped working due to constant overheating and simply gave up, the rest of the system might still function. It’s probably a looping issue because it can’t locate the GPU and lacks integrated graphics.

I’ve checked the system thoroughly—PSU fan keeps working, board fans function, and I can operate the power button on the case as long as it’s connected to the motherboard. I actually rebuilt it, which might explain why it’s working now since I’m not very experienced with PC repairs.

When I see the word "fried," it reminds me of food. I’d treat this as an electrical issue. Perhaps it’s just a German habit, but since I’m in tech support, if someone says their laptop fried, I’d close the case and insist I’m handling it as a support agent, not a chef. This highlights how quickly things can become confusing. In most of my experience, 9 out of 10 users can’t clearly explain their problem. I’m not saying it’s a problem, but we should always ask questions first before drawing conclusions.

The problem seems to stem from the information you provided. We don’t know what’s wrong with the computer. Is the PSU damaged? Probably not, since it seems to be working. Could the GPU be faulty? Maybe, but you didn’t explain why. There’s no smell of burnt components or any clear signs. The motherboard might be affected too, but we lack details. We don’t have enough data to diagnose accurately. You could test with another GPU, but there’s a risk due to unknown system conditions.
