Hey there, let me check if I'm on the right thread. You're using a Ryzen 7 5800X with Asus ROG Crosshair VIII Hero Wi-Fi, and a Gigabyte B550 AORUS Pro v2. You mentioned using Crucial Ballistix 32GB RAM (two 16GB sticks) with DDR4-3200 speed. The power supply is 11kW, but the Ethernet port isn't working. You've updated Windows 10 multiple times and installed all the latest drivers, but the connection still isn't stable. The wall signal is good, and your previous PCs connected fine. The Ethernet lights aren't blinking, and you noticed the cable looks like a phone cable but with bigger connectors. You're considering a new motherboard since the old one was fine, but you prefer a wired setup. Other devices like TV and others are working too. No bent pins on the CPU, no boot errors, BIOS is normal, and all network adapters are active. You tried pinging two PCs, but no signal. It seems like the issue might be with the new motherboard or possibly a driver problem. Can you share more details about your system setup?

It might just be a faulty cable. Try another one. Make sure the port isn’t clogged with dust or debris, and that all pins are straight—there should be eight of them. You said the lights on the switch side, but if no LEDs are visible and they don’t light up when you check the computer side, it’s likely the device won’t work.

I'm not claiming it's only the switches that are faulty; the switch itself is quite old. 10 out of 100 indicates it's very outdated.

First, replace the switch. Have you tested various Ethernet cables?

I understand the issue is related to its age and lack of gigabit capabilities. It shouldn't affect functionality despite the slower speeds.

Check for an Ethernet device on your PC and observe the connection indicator. If it remains off, the motherboard may be faulty.

They have consistently employed two motherboards so far.

The ports are clean, the cable functions with other devices (I tested two different ones). I captured a picture of the switch prior to connecting it to my PC, which was a mistake—they remain off for some reason. Let's try another cable. I also experimented with various ports on my motherboard (the 2.5G and another).

It's interesting how old switches sometimes behave oddly. I remember a time when a Dell 48-port managed switch had that quirky habit of only accepting devices that had been plugged in before.

He got this switch secondhand from someone, but it functions with 4K content and other features. My internet speed should reach 100mbps.
