It seems you're using an SSD, which shouldn't be a storage limitation. This is unusual. Have you attempted to reset the router already? (Even though you mentioned getting a new one, it might not help much.) According to the note, it should be straightforward. Refer to: Sauce: https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Net...-p/5187913

What type of Ethernet cable are you using? If it's CAT5 or lower, that's likely limiting your performance. Consider switching to a CAT6 or CAT7 cable and test it out.

Have you experimented with altering the DNS server? I recall my Steam downloads struggled with speed, and switching to Cloud Flare resolved that. My ISP's DNS settings also bother me. Sure, my speeds weren't drastically reduced—it was more about a noticeable improvement from 40 MB/s to around 50 MB/s after changing the DNS.

haven't worked with linux much lately, so it'll take some time to try. i'm really confused about what to do next—i thought maybe updating my bios a few months ago might have caused this issue. i'm not sure how that would connect, but since asus has been pushing bios updates recently, it's probably worth checking. haha

Check if it uses cables or Bluetooth. If it’s connected via wires, it might point to a PC issue, though there could be other reasons.
