I've got a display with a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz. When I tried to play Apex at 1440p, it was running much faster than the monitor could handle, exceeding 200fps. It's interesting that it doesn't freeze at lower resolutions like 1080p or 4K. This isn't something I've experienced before with my monitor, which has been in use for a year. Anyone have any advice or an explanation about this issue?
Refer to the display settings or your GPU driver software. Check the refresh rate shown while the game is running and when it’s not. Clarify the difference between display refresh and game frame rate.
Could the shown 120Hz value be wrong? Is there a way to adjust the refresh rate through the OSD settings or a driver? Are the specs listed for your display mentioning support for 1440p/144Hz? Does Windows indicate that this mode is available or supported? Consider turning off Freensync or Gsync temporarily. It might be worth trying a few options.
