My laptop is starting to feel a bit outdated now (it's been over 10 years). I've been using it every day in a humid place like Indonesia for the last couple of months, right? Plus, the power here is pretty inconsistent—constant spikes and drops all the time. Usually it stays in sleep mode all day and night, but sometimes when I turn it back on, it takes ages (like 4 minutes or more) and feels very sluggish. The screen goes black instantly, so I had to force restart by holding the power button. That worked before, but today it's not so reliable. I question a CPU would fail from a surge. I'm writing this on a 10-year-old laptop with about 1300 power recovery attempts. It seems the HDD is the issue. Plus, it still appears normal in the BIOS. By the way, how did you access that "advanced chipset control" menu? I have the same BIOS and don't have that feature.
I experimented with clearing dust inside to check for overheating issues and replaced the chip itself. After restarting the laptop, Windows prompted me to perform a repair on my files, which I did. The performance improved noticeably, though some odd numbers still appear in the MHz display. Boost settings reached 5500 and stabilized around 4600—still unusual. Game responsiveness remains sluggish, with motion appearing delayed. Overall, it's better than before, but there are persistent problems. I plan to reinstall all drivers and restart again to see if it resolves the issue. As far as I understand, the advanced BIOS settings are unchanged, and no further adjustments seem possible.

I already checked for dust entry and everything was okay except a bit of blockage. I didn’t replace the paste, just removed the CPU from the socket to check for moisture or debris. It might be the humidity issue—some keys stop working after traveling to Indonesia. Also, frequent water buildup over time could be the problem. If the motherboard is likely to fail soon, I’d probably need a new laptop.
Uhh, if you spilled liquid on it there's no need to look further. It may not fail straight away but it definitely will with time.
