Increasing RAM simply adds more memory for the CPU to access. While the timing between RAM and CPU is important, I’d estimate it won’t make a difference in your scenario (the RAM speed will be the key factor)

What speed is this RAM? The CPU runs at less than 1000 MHz? Probably uses no more than 2 to 4 GB of memory on an older system... I’m just making rough estimates, no worries!

I understood how to upgrade the RAM on an iMac G3 and wasn’t sure about replacing the CPU. Likely I’ll install a new one. Ty every1
