my cpu stays consistently around 40 to 50°C during light usage, while the internet suggests it should be between 25 to 30°C. The temperature spikes significantly, causing the cooler to overheat and run faster, which increases noise. I noticed in the bios it was set to spin at 4500 RPM or similar, making it annoying. This overheating could potentially damage the CPU if not addressed.

45 is completely typical during summer. Unless you're over 95, it's all right.

The Phenoms don't reach high temperatures like the FX chips; they slow down around 70°C. Aim for a max of 60-70°C based on TDP. Wipe the fans, heatsink, and old paste from the cooler and CPU, then reapply thermal paste and check again. This chip is about 11 years old and has limited heat resistance, so extra care is needed.

The Phenom model lacks turbo options, while the X4 T Zosma and X6 T Thubans are available. The Phenom II features a completely different design (K10).

Thanks everyone! I’ll clean the heat sink again and reapply thermal paste. Hope it helps calm my CPU and stops the fan noise when I’m using headphones.
