I checked my setup and noticed VSync was active. When I turned it off, CPU temperature spiked to about 86°C during Apex Legends. I switched off the CPU cooler and power supply to lower temps. Will this affect my CPU performance? Are there other ways to reduce CPU heat while keeping CBP and PBO on and VSync off? I'm using a Ryzen 5 3600 with the stock cooler and an MSI B450M Mortar M. I cleaned the PC, opened the case, and everything seemed fine. My machine is only about four months old, and I hadn't faced these issues before. Because of the pandemic, all parts shops were closed, so I couldn't buy a used cooler. Also, during gameplay it consistently reached 75-85°C. When I turned off both CBP and PBO, the max temperature dropped to around 73°C. Please advise.
Vsync restricts the frame rate, meaning fewer frames for the CPU to process. 86c runs hot but stays close to the 95c cap. I’d suggest getting a higher-quality cooler online and possibly upgrading the case fans. There’s little you can do to cut heat directly, just maintain performance. A slight negative voltage adjustment on the core—around 0.015 to 0.030v—might lower temperatures slightly without hurting speed.
What cooler and thermal paste are you using? Which case are you working with? Improving performance often involves a better cooler, high-quality thermal paste, and adequate airflow. List of fans currently running in the setup: [insert fan names here].
